on Station Road

The fixed camera housing has been moved to its new location on Station Road.

The new site was agreed following an on site meeting with Vince Morley representing Milton Keynes Council Road Safety, Glyn Hollinshead from Thames Valley Police, plus a representative from Equipment Trafic Management Company, Serco.

The camera has moved within the existing site influence range and therefore is not a new site and does not have to meet the latest criteria. At present the camera does not meet conspicuity guidelines and therefore will not be enforced. The lines on the road will be painted on once the camera housing is visible from the required distance. In the meantime it has been requested the camera housing be bagged whilst it is unenforceable.

Welcome to the Woburn Sands Town web from MK Councillor, David Hopkins ....whats new....Wimpey want to build 125 more new homes here. the Local Plan allowed for 330 homes on this whole site. Wimpey are already building 280 in phases 1 and 2, leaving a mere 50 more to be added. Woburn Sands Town Council accept that there will be enormous pressure from MK Council (and the developer)because of Government policies to increase this number. However, Woburn Sands Town Council does not consider 125 more houses on this part of the site to be in keeping in a small town in a rural setting. It is a density of nearly 50 per hectare which is well above even the most recent applicationsfor new estates in the rest on MK.

Traffic Impact
Woburn Sands Town Council has expressed concerns over the traffic impact on the surrounding roads both here and in Wavendon at the time of the first application and we must do so again. In particular the carriageway over the railway must be widened (as at Bow Brickhill) to allow a right turn lane towards Cranfield so that north bound traffic can progress immediately the gates are raised.

15 Freight Trains a Day

The giant flyover, which has stood like a silent statue across the tracks of Bletchley station since the late 1950's, is soon to come to life. As part of the development of a major 'Virtual Quarry' - a centre for railway ballast supply/clening etc - at Stewartby, the flyover is to carry trains once more.

Trains will access the lines towards Stewartby via the flyover, and through Woburn Sands.

As more heavy freight trains (up to 18 movements a day!) will be using the Marston Vale Line from April 2006 Network Rail has approved an ambitious scheme to upgrade the tracks. Much of the route will be relaid to permit the speed of passenger trains to increase to 60MPH.
