We meet on the first Friday evening of the month. 7.30 - 10.15 at The Quaker Centre, 1 Oakley Gardens, Downhead Park, Milton Keynes, MK15 9BH

6 NOVEMBER Writers Readings - Come and read out your latest work and test the water.

4 DECEMBER CHRISTMAS CHAOS Bring along your writings loosley themed with Christmas and we'll vote for the winner. Plus some fun and games. Bring your non-writing friends for some silly fun and charity fund-raising.

8 JANUARY
Tall Tales in the Round - Someone starts telling a story and then it’s continued by the next person. It’s great fun and what better way to start the New Year than with a good laugh. Followed by Writers Readings where we read out our latest work.

5 FEBRUARY Writers Readings Theme: A Twist in the Tail.

5 MARCH GUEST SPEAKER JEAN SAUNDERS Jean has done it all, from Agony Aunt, short story writer to novelist. and cruise ship lecturer. Her 107th novel came out in 2009. Come and learn from an expert. This is Jean’s second visit to Speakeasy.

2 APRIL A change of venue just for tonight - Speakeasy will be meeting at Madcap in Wolverton to support Potry Kapow. 7.30 start mention Speakeasy as you pay your entrance money. A very good night is in store.

7 MAY Writers Readings Theme: “Sightless eyes stared up at her. He was dead, very dead.”

4 JUNE GUEST SPEAKER XANTHE WELLS Writing Mentor. Come and learn and be amused, be very amused.

2 JULY Writers Readings Theme: A story or poem to make us laugh.

6 AUGUST Writers Readings Theme: Message in a bottle’

3 SEPTEMBER AGM followed by Writers Readings. There is no theme for this evening so bring along anything you would like to read out to the rest of us.

1 OCTOBER GUEST SPEAKER - IAIN PATTISON returns to Speakeasy. Short story writer, competition judge and journalist. A very entertaining and motivating speaker. Take notes if you can stop laughing long enough.

5 NOVEMBER GHOST NIGHT - An evening specially dedicated to spooky stories, horrific tales and chilling poems. Of course, it’s all in the mind—or is it? Non writers and listeners especially welcome tonight.

3 DECEMBER CHRISTMAS CHAOS
Our charity night. Bring along your Christmas writings and we’ll all vote who’s best. Plus some Christmas silly games & puzzles. Spouse or partner, friends and neighbours all welcome. Good fun all round. A gentle way of getting into the Christmas spirit. Ho, ho, ho!



THEMES: If you read out some work based on our chosen themes the winner of the evening receives a prize.

February: A Twist in the Tail

May: Sightless eyes looked up at her. He was dead, very dead.

July: A story or poem to make us laugh.

August: Message in a bottle.

Entry to Writers Reading nights is £5 and Guest Nights is £7

Visitors are allowed to visit and pay the evenings entry fee on two occasions. On the third visit you will be asked to join as a mamber.

MEMBERSHIP: £60 per year, nothing else to pay or
£24 plus full entry fee each night. Year runs 1st January to 31st December. People joinging during the year will pay pro rata.
