Searching

Use the search control to locate areas on the map.

Indicates a located map position after a successful search.

Any of the following types of search terms can be typed into the search box. If multiple results are found then a selection will be provided for you to choose from:

Post Code - Post codes are only valid if they fall within the Milton Keynes borough boundary. The complete postcode must be entered, spaces and case are ignored. Although care has been taken to test the accuracy of the postcode data it is inevitable that in a new city some are incorrect. If you report them to us we will endeavour to correct them.

Street Names - Partial street names may be entered. If more than one occurrence is found a list of matching streets is provided. If you find any inaccuracies please report them to us and we will endeavour to correct them.

Place Names - Place names may be searched by typing all or part of the required name. Whenever multiple place names are provided you may click on a single place name or choose to display all places on the map. If multiple places are chosen their locations appear as icons, hover over the icons for more information.

OS Grid Reference - Ordnance Survey grid references can be entered as an easterly reference between 470000 & 500000 and a northerly reference between 230000 & 260000. Both leading digits may be omitted if preferred. The two references may entered as a single 10 or 12 digit number or may be separated by a comma or a space.

e.g. Milton Keynes railway station has a reference of 484195 east and 238065 north. Any of the following are valid:

Zooming
	The zoom control allow you to select a 20Km x 20Km, 5Km x 5Km or 1Km x 1Km view of Milton Keynes and the surrounding area. Click on the selection bars or use the plus and minus signs to zoom in and out. The relevant bar turns red when selected. Clicking on the map when at the 20Km or 5Km views zooms to the next highest level and centres the map around the selected point.

Panning
	Use the pan control to move around the map area. Click on a large arrow to move a whole screen (panel), click a small arrow to move a third of a screen. The extent of the map using Ordnance Survey Grid Reference is: E-W 470000 - 500000 N-S 230000 - 260000

Navigation
	Move on click - If selected, clicking around the edge of the map whilst at the 20Km or 5Km views centres the map around that point but does not zoom. Clicking in the centre of the map always zooms.
Options For Street Level Map
	If selected, all street level images are loaded so they can be switched between instantly.
	If Preload Images is selected, then this allows quick switching between the currently viewed street level map and the previous one.
	If selected, the map zooms to maximum zoom and displays the map with the selected background.


Routes and Boundaries

Clicking on the "Update Map" button displays the selected outlines on the map.
	Clear Map - If clicked any data displayed on the map is cleared. The map position and zoom level are retained.
Show Icons If selected, any information icons relating to the outlines are displayed. If there are a large number of objects displayed the mass of icons can obscure the map. Show On Map
This contain a number of link which, if clicked, display information as icons onto the map. The icons will remain during panning and zooming. To remove them click the “Clear Map” button. Only one set of icons may be displayed at any time.
