Fishermead Residents Group

Who Are We?

Fishermead Residents Group - Residents GroupFishermead Residents Group

It is a group run by residents for the residents of Fishermead.

We hold regular commitee meetings and "Drop In's" for residents.

Opening up the Green Spaces

Fishermead Residents Group - PlaygroundBy now everyone will have noticed the ramp and railings at the area behind the Doctors Surgery. After receiving contact from our elderly residents - having difficulty with the steps previously in place, the Residents Group obtained funding from Milton Keynes Housing Forum to improve this area.

We hope that this has now made a difference to many residents including people with buggies or wheelchair users.

It certainly has made the area feel safer as it is now more open.

The toddler park can now be seen more clearly following the removal of the hedges - we have also noticed more children using the green open space on Kernow Crescent. People have told us that they feel safer now crossing the green.

Reserve Sites

Fishermead Residents Group - Reserve SitesThe keyworker flats are now completed at the corner of Helford and Polruan.

RS27 - The play park opposite the chinese food shop on Pencarrow - nothing proposed as yet.

RS28 - This site is up by the social club Partnership project with English Partnerships - Now 42 Keyworker houses/flats.
The larger reserve site - opposite the Chines mission - latest news on this site is that it is proposed that commercial units will be built to the ground floor- with residential units to the upper floor(s).

We will update you - the residents - as more news comes in.

If you wish to contact us to raise any concerns or wish to add your views - please contact us.

Parents and toddlers for the little ones

Fishermead Residents Group - kidinplayframeParent and toddler group meet every Wednesday at Trinity centre between 9-30am and 11-30am - £1 per family.

We supply the equipment and facilities - parents provide the supervision.

We provide a safe environment - lots of toys and play equipment - 2 lots of juice and biscuits for the kids and a cofee/tea and biscuit for parents.

Parents and toddlers for the little ones

New - Play Parks

Fishermead Residents Group - basketballThe little Toddler park has been in for 8 months now and has been vandalised many times by the locals!!! Sorry little ones - some people have no regard for others.

The sharp shooter has now been installed over at the big park at the Back of Polruan Place. This cost £15,000 so we wont be replacing it if it too gets vandalised. Please look after the equipment - it is very hard to get funding for these expensive things.

Rubbish Collection

Fishermead Residents Group - RubbishRemember, if you wish to report dumped rubbish/graffiti or dumped cars the number to ring is 252570. Also if you have bulk items you wish to be removed you can call this number - most items can be collected free - ring for details.

Collection date is Wednesday, Cory's are arriving early so rubbish needs to be outside Tuesday night.

Things do seem to be getting better - Only put your rubbish out on collection day - or at the earliest the evening before collection day - remember it is Wednesday - unless there has been a bank holiday and then it is Thursday. The rubbish continually on the streets attracts vermin, makes every street look a mess and ends up everywhere. There are rats here!!!!

Houses Of Multiple Occupancy

Fishermead Residents Group - GovernorsThe council's initiative to register the landlords of all multiple occupancy homes is now in place. They need your help to identify these houses.... Landlords - read on!
