GPS Linguaphonics

If you have a GPS navigator then download its voices in languages of your choice. You will know what it is saying as the screen guides you - just listen to its familiar instructions in French, Spanish, German, etc. As a Tom Tom owner I found the phrases I learned very useful in Italy - it helped me easily understand the directions I was given by a passer-by!

Finally, if you go wrong you just: "faites demi-tour dès que possible!"

La chimie dans l'industrie

In June the annual three- day "Chemistry at Work" event takes place at the City Discovery Centre takes place. It is organised for Countec by Derek Jones, Eurolang's web site author. It is a science event and Derek invites French 16 year olds (English Year 10) from the " Lycée Bertrand d'Argentré de Vitré" in Brittany to come and give a 30-minute repeated scientific demonstration in English . They are members of “INSERM-JEUNES, Bretagne ", dedicated to raising awareness of medical issues. They are brought by CHARLES GUILLOU, Inserm's organiser and accommodated by Milton Keynes families, thanks to Judith Heinemann from Denbigh School.

Derek says “They always fascinate our students by their determination to “cross the language barrier” and at the end of each demonstration everyone has a chance to communicate in French. They show that science is international and foreign languages can be a great career enhancer.”
