Heritage Open Days 11th - 14th September 2008  September is 'Open Up Milton Keynes' month with a range of events and activities programmed to counteract those back to school and work blues.
And the four days of Milton Keynes Heritage Open Days, the major FREE heritage event of the calendar year, will be no exception when organisations across the Borough open their doors and put on a range of activities for everyone.

Milton Keynes Heritage Opens Day: Walking in StyleWalkers will be transported back in time this September as the village of Castlethorpe hosts a Costumed Walk as part of its contribution towards Milton Keynes Heritage Open Days, the major FREE heritage event of the calendar year, when organisations across the Borough open their doors and put on a range of activities for everyone.

Council launches home improvement scheme  Cash-strapped pensioners needing to fix a boiler or replace old wiring in their home can now turn to Milton Keynes Council for a low cost home improvement loan.
Under a new scheme the council has up to £1.3m to loan out over the next three years to pensioners so they can improve the warmth, comfort, safety and security of their homes.

Are you prepared?A handy booklet featuring potentially life saving advice is soon to be delivered to every home in Milton Keynes. The booklet 'Are You Prepared' will carry essential basic advice about what to do in the event of crises such as fire, flooding or disease outbreak.

Race on for big catch  Come fishing is the challenge to anglers invited to take part in the Great Species Fishing Race to uncover what lies beneath the waters near Emberton Country Park.
The fish population of Emberton Country Park has not been recorded for many years and the reason for the fishing race is to discover what lies beneath the extensive waters on site.

Making hay while the Green Flag flies Families got a taste of farm life during a traditional hay-making event at New Bradwell Local Park this week. Lots of people turned up for the 'Make Hay Whilst the Sun Shines' event to celebrate the award of a Green Flag that recognises New Bradwell Local Park as one of the best open spaces in the UK.

Flying the flags for Milton Keynes Parks  A second local park in Milton Keynes has received a Green Flag to recognise it is one of the best open spaces in the country. New Bradwell Local Park joins Chepstow Park in being able to fly the prestigious Green Flag and means Milton Keynes is one of the few towns in the region to have landed the double honour.

Pink Sacks - feel the difference! Milton Keynes residents will receive their annual roll of pink and black sacks between now and mid December. As soon as current pink sack stocks run out, the council will be introducing new pink sacks which are slightly textured to help people with a visual impairment feel the difference.

Milton Keynes Council road skill courses for motorbikers Skill courses to teach motorcyclists how to get the best out of their machines and still remain safe are being run by Milton Keynes Council.
The 'Be a Better Biker' courses are to be held on Saturday, July 26th at Great Holm fire station, and Saturday, 13th September at Bletchley fire station.

Temporary Move from Coachway From the 26th April 2008 the Coachway will move from its current location at Junction 14 whilst a new coach passenger terminal is constructed.
Long distance coach services currently calling at Junction 14 will move to a temporary location between Montrose Street and Pilgrim Street, off Silbury Boulevard in Campbell Park, where facilities will include a waiting room, café, ticket office, toilets, a shop with taxi booking facilities and approximately 60 adjacent parking spaces. The site will be well lit, have CCTV and 24 hour on-site security.
