Myra Tiffin Performing Arts School

Clubs and Societies - Myra TiffinThe Myra Tiffin Performing Arts School is based in its own studios in Stony Stratford. The school has two large fully equipped studios and a music room. It provides a safe environment for the pupils to be and has a family, friendly and happy atmosphere. The school is an Approved Dance Centre for the ISTD.

Myra Tiffin is a fully qualified teacher and examiner, an ex-professional dancer and full equity member. Myra has been teaching for over twenty-five years and together with her other fully qualified and registered teachers, Jennifer Austen, Jo De-Souza, Rachel Sherry, Lance Keegan and Jayne Davies, the school provides children from Milton Keynes, Bucks, Beds and Northamptonshire with the opportunity to take classes in tap, ballet, jazz, modern, general dance, pilates, drama and singing. Whatever their age they can take exams through the ISTD and RAD syllabus or just have lessons for fun. The children are also encouraged to take part in workshops and master classes with visiting professional theatre practitioners and often guest lecturers come into the studio to take classes.

Children from the performing arts school and agency have taken part in many productions at Milton Keynes Theatre: Joseph, Cinderella (both productions), Snow White, Peter Pan (both productions), Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Aladdin, Inspector Calls (both visits), Northern Ballet's Romeo & Juliet (both visits), Madame Butterfly and Wuthering Heights, Falstaff with the State Opera of Tatarsan, Tosca, Four Nights in Knaresborough, The King & I, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Fiddler on the Roof, Carousel, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Annie and Miss Saigon.

As well as Milton Keynes pupils have been involved in productions at other venues; Joseph, Northern Ballet's A Christmas Carol, Peter Pan, Fiddler on the Roof, Scrooge and The King & I at The Derngate; the pantomime, The Sleeping Beauty at The Royal in Northampton; Joseph in St Albans (twice); Joseph at The Grove Theatre in Dunstable; Wuthering Heights at Sadlers Wells in London and Inspector Calls at The Wycombe Swan. Two groups took part in a variety show at the London Palladium. One pupil did a five month run as Louis in The King & I at the London Palladium and then a further six months on tour, whilst another two have been asked to tour for six months with the recent production of The King & I. Another has performed in a five month run of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang also at The London Palladium. They have provided the chorus for the "The Wall" with the Think Floyd tribute band at The Stables, Stantonbury Campus Leisure Centre, the Bedford Corn Exchange and Stantonbury Campus Theatre. Many pupils and their families can be seen in the television adverts for Milton Keynes and on much of the publicity material around the city. Three of the younger pupils have also taken part in adverts for Toys R Us.

The school also performs dance and drama productions at Stantonbury Campus Theatre and have held three Gala productions at Milton Keynes Theatre.

Pupils have also been successful in gaining places at full time vocational schools and have gone on to work in theatre and television.

The school is happy to support and promote Milton Keynes and was delighted when it was given the logo, GO PERFORM:GO MK.

Milton Keynes is full of local clubs and societies to join, so whatever your interest there is something for everyone. For young people we have drama and singing classes for 4-16 year olds with Stagecoach, the Youth Cadet Force, the Air Training Corps and many more. Try your hand at wine tasting in Milton Keynes, or perhaps the International Ladies Club might be more to your taste.
