Key meeting for homeless Lions on Friday

MK Lions logo 2011Thecity’s homeless basketball club have a crunch meeting this Friday as they desperately try to secure a new base in the city.

MKLions were forced to leave their Winterhill arena after their landlords kicked them out to make way for more shops.

Home and Garden store The Range will be built on the site instead.

Lions owner Vince Macaulay has offers on the table to move the club elsewhere, with Crystal Palace rumoured as a possible new location.

However, leaving the city is seen as the last resort.

Friday’s meeting is regarding a new premises which would keep the BritishBasketballLeague team in Milton Keynes.

Mr Macaulay said:“We’ll leave no stone unturned and do everything we can.”

The club have been unable to sign new players or tie down existing squad members because of the chaos.

Rob Youngblood, who Macaulay wanted to tempt back as a player coach next season, has already left to take up a position with London Leopards.
