Ian Poulter was laid low by pneumonia at the start of the Honda Classic in Florida on Thursday.
The Woburn Golf Club professional was due to play with Tiger Woods and Lee Westwood in the first two rounds at Palm Beach Gardens, but withdrew before the start.
A chest X-ray revealed pneumonia and it now remains to be seen if he will recover in time for next week's world championship in Miami.
