One of Englands most extraordinary houses, it has been in continuous occupation by the Verney family for over 350 years. The house is filled with momentoes of their fascinating history, from exploits in the Civil War to visits by their relative, Florence Nightingale.

Claydon was origionally a Jacobean manor house, but was remodelled in the 1750's at a time when the craze for Chinoiserie was at its height. The result was the remarkable series of room we see today, lavishly decorated in intricately-carved white woodwork covered with motifs based on Oriental birds, pagodas and summerhouses.

How to get there In Middle Claydon, 13 miles north west of Aylesbury, 3.5 miles SW of Winslow; signposted from A413, A421 and A41. Junction 9 on M40 is just 12 miles away.
