The 2012 Theatre District Christmas event on Sunday 25th November promises to be the biggest and best yet. They have a full line up of fantastic entertainment, including local singing sensation Scott Finley, the UK’s best Oli Murs tribute act, Limitless Dance Crew, MK Rock Choir and FREE kids rides kindly provided by Keith Emmett.
Father Christmas had so much fun last year he again decided to take time out of his busy schedule to join in the fun and find out the latest toys top of MK children’s Christmas lists in 2012.
The charity being supported this year is MK’s own local Air Ambulance who cover Berkshire, Oxfordshire as well as Buckinghamshire. They receive no funding from the government and are solely reliant on donations, yet are a vital service and save lives daily. Keiron and his Nan were two such people who benefitted from the Air Ambulance, and they are coming along to help switch on the Christmas lights. All money raised from the event will go to this amazing charity and they will be selling their own merchandise plus running a tombola and kids fun stall to raise additional funds, so please do be generous.
The Theatre District is also supporting MK Food Bank by encouraging everyone to bring along a long life tin, juice or dried food for the drop off point. These items will then be distributed to those MK residents who have fallen on difficult times and need some assistance to feed themselves and their family for a few days, until they can sort out a longer term solution.
The festivities will start just before 4pm with MK Brass opening the ceremony, followed by a packed programme of talented singers and dance groups. Again this year MK Rock Choir will be singing their hearts out and later in the proceedings will lead everyone in a traditional Christmas carol sing along. Local, friendly mascots will be out and about ready to meet and greet and may even join the MKCA Cheerleading group in their routine! As ever there will be refreshments and a couple of fun fair rides for the youngsters to enjoy free of charge, though a donation to charity would be appreciated.
The Christmas Family Fun event on Sunday 25th November will take place in the central area of the Theatre District – at the side of Bella Italia. MK Brass will start around 4pm with other entertainment running on thereafter. Kids rides, stalls and refreshments will be opened at 4pm and stay open throughout the event. The official switch on of the Christmas lights, including MK’s largest real Christmas tree, will happen live on MKFM around 5.45pm.
