KEIRA Knightley is set to join Benedict Cumberbatch in a Hollywood film based on Bletchley park mathematician Alan Turing and his work on the Enigma code during the Second World War.

Following the success of television drama The Bletchley Circle, based on the roles of four women who worked at the code breaking centre in 1952, the park continues to be in the Hollywood spotlight.

The film, entitled The Imitation Game, will be based on Andrew Hodges’ biography Bletchley Park’s Alan Turing: The Enigma.

With Cumberbatch playing Turing and Knightley portraying a woman with a complicated relationship with him, the film will examine Turing’s role in breaking the Enigma cipher as well as the treatment he received after revealing his homosexuality in 1952.

Katherine Lynch from Bletchley Park said: “We are really excited about the film and delighted that it is being made.”

Written by Graham Moore, and to be directed by Headhunters director Morten Tyldum The Imitation Game’s script was well received during its release in 2011. The film’s release date is set to be announced in 2015.
