Also known as Bradwell Village and Old Bradwell. Locally pronounced "Braddle". The name comes from the old village and parish (AnqIo-Saxon "wella" - spring). The Doomsday Book records "Bradewelle", held by Walter Hacket from
Walter Giffard, and by William de Fougores from William FitzAnsculf.

The street names come from a number of different sources, field names eg. Craddocks, and Fosters and Rawlins were people in the area.

The original village was built around a hollow centre and had the features of a typical village centre; church, Great House, public houses, a shop, farms a school and a cricket pitch. The earliest remains found are of a Motte and Bailey castle just near the Prince Albert pub. The tower of the church is 14th Century with the rest of the church rebuilt in 1646.

The Moat House near the sports field was rebuilt in 1784. Bradwell House hidden behind its high brick wall is a fine example of Georgian architecture. The railway line has separated the area from Bradwell Abbey since 1838

The housing is mainly in the low to medium price range and is a mix of rental, private ownership and self build.

The area has a sports and social club, allotments, recreation ground, shop and schools.

Education is at Priory Common First School, Bradwell Village Middle School and (article 20393 Stantonbury Campus") for secondary education. For more details visit the Education Guideon MK Web

The area is well positioned for access to the A5 Trunk Road and the City Centre is only five minutes away. North Loughton Valley Park runs through the area and the famous Concrete Cows are very close. Historical Bradwell Abbey is just the other side of the railway line.
