THE family of a brave four-year-old who has suffered with neuroblastoma have called for Milton Keynes to adopt the nickname of Los Angeles and become a ‘City of Angels’.

Henry Allen needs donations from the public to help him recover from an aggressive form of cancer which affects the nervous system.

But the need for help became urgent yesterday after scans revealed Henry’s further tumours had developed and become more widespread.

With an 80 per cent chance of a relapse, it is unlikely the disease has been eradicated completely and the appeal group are now looking at options outside of the NHS for Henry, having exhausted all options in the UK.

The appeal needs to raise £500,000 to send Henry aborad for treatment in America or Germany that can help children beat the disease.

In an emotive appeal Henry’s dad Mark said: “No matter what has been thrown at him he still projects a beautiful smile. He is a true hero and we need to ensure that this fantastic little boy becomes a man.”

Already the Henry Allen Appeal has raised more than £100,000, and this week fundraisers are urging people all over the city to help boost the coffers further.

Supporter Heather Smith said: “If every street, or every group, raised just £100 each then we could do it.

“People think Los Angeles is the ‘City of Angels’ but it’s time to prove Milton Keynes deserves that title too.”

The appeal’s manager, Charlotte Rham, said: “While we are waiting for further results to confirm the definite course of action that the family can take for Henry’s treatment, they are now looking at other options for treatments available outside of NHS treatment, as time is running out for this little man and this may be as far as the NHS can take him.”

To donate to Henry’s cause, you can text HENR65 and an amount between £1-£10 to 70070, or visit www.justgiving.com/HenryAllenAppeal to find other ways you can donate.
